Skill or Talent

Hard Work and Destiny

Destiny may be pre-written, but hard work writes its own future.

Skill and Talent

Talent is granted. Skill is earned.

Genius and Average

The self-proclaimed genius assumes they already know everything. The average asks questions and listens.

The Socratic Paradox states that the more a person knows, the more they realise how much they don't know. In other words, as their knowledge expands, so does the boundary of the unknown.

Therefore, assume you're not a genius, and that you still have much to learn by asking questions and listening.

Better Odds

To increase your odds of success, it’s best to be a hard working, skilled person who doesn't believe they know it all.

This kind of person expects no handout, but provides value.
They listen to others because there’s always more to learn.
They may have natural talent but work hard to sharpen their skills.
And they show up, every day.
