Simon Sinek tells us to "Start with Why.”
I've come to appreciate the value of that advice.
I follow a number of daily habits. No skipping. No days off.
My Duolingo streak: 1,000+ days in a row.
Pushups: 200+ days.
Reading: 100+ days.
Writing: 80+ days.
Vlogging: 16 days so far.
All of these done daily add up to a considerable investment of time, and sometimes effort. So sometimes my mind strays and asks: why bother?
My mind: Wouldn't it be better to kick back, relax, go to sleep earlier, maybe even watch some TV?
Me: Nope. There’s a reason I do all of these.
If you can clearly state the reason behind each habit, it’s easier to cast doubt into the abyss.
I do Duolingo because I love learning languages, and it’s useful when I travel.
I do pushups, jumping jacks and stretch to help me stay fit while on the move.
I read to expand my vocabulary and improve how I think.
I write to solidify what I learn and share it with others.
I vlog to show friends and family what I'm up to, and create an awesome keepsake for future me.
If your Why is strong enough, the How will figure itself out.
